Osteoarthritis

Many patients have come to our office as a last resort. They have been told by their medical doctor that “you have arthritis, you’re getting older, there is nothing much we can do” and are prescribed medications which can have dangerous side effects especially when taken for a long time. Arthritis is a condition that is caused by wearing down of the cartilage between the joints. If we live long enough we will all develop arthritis. Some people will develop it earlier due to prior injuries, the type of work they have had to do, and sometimes because their parents developed arthritis at an early age as there may be a genetic connection.

Some of the major joints affected by arthritis are the knees, hips, back, neck, shoulder and hand/wrist. Arthritis can be very painful and cause the affected areas to not function properly. Arthritis in one area can cause arthritis or pain in other areas as well. For instance, if you have arthritis in your left knee, you may compensate for this by putting more pressure on your right leg, leading to right hip problems. Pain killers can cause temporary relief from pain and discomfort, but they are not a safe long-term solution. Chiropractic can alleviate pain by releasing pressure on the nervous system with proper realignment. We can also restore proper joint movement, helping to ensure that you use proper motion so that you do not cause injury to other parts of your body. We are not strictly concerned with the affected painful area, but rather the whole body. We aim to restore and maintain proper movement and functionality to increase your overall well-being and decrease your dependence on dangerous drugs.

After a thorough evaluation we will explain all of your options. Don’t just live with arthritic pain, call today!
