Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a “repetitive use issue” most commonly associated with people who are constantly using a computer. Typing is a motion that, when performed repetitively and with poor posture, can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. However, anyone who uses their wrist and hands a lot can get carpal tunnel syndrome. Early prevention is key to preventing surgery!
Symptoms include pain, numbness,
weakness, or a burning sensation. These symptoms can wake you up at night
causing you to lose sleep. The nerves in the fingertips travel through the
wrist, up the arm, and into the neck. The spine is the center of the nervous
system, and the pain in your hands and wrists can be relieved by your
chiropractor with concentrated spinal and joint adjustments. We also have
other interventions if needed like high power laser therapy and will make
recommendations for home therapy including exercise and wrist splints.
It is very important to address this before the damage gets too severe, which may then require surgery. Call us today and after a thorough history and examination we will explain all of your options. Start sleeping better again!
